Homeschooling is not about homeschooling.
I just had a flash-back to a time when I spoke at a conference years ago. As I was closing my prepared message I suddenly heard myself say something I had not prepared to say…
“The homeschooling movement has never been about homeschooling at all. If you don’t know how the homeschooling movement began, I can only tell you that God swept us up in a kind of “river” and we were powerless to do anything other than keep our kids at home rather than sending them to school. I have intuitively known homeschooling was not mainly about providing our children with a better education or about protecting them from world influences. But, it has taken me a long time to realize what homeschooling is really about.
“You see, a day is coming…(I don’t even know what that means). I only know that God sees a day coming when a certain kind of person will be needed to be leaders when “that day” arrives. In that day, the majority of people—yes, even world leaders—will be faced with situations too complicated for them to comprehend. I believe God has reached back in time, our time, and is using the homeschooling movement to begin to prepare these young people, your young people, for “that day”.
